The inaugural A380 flight on the Los Angeles route took off on Friday at around 0930hrs local time from the Singapore’ Changi airport and landed in Los Angeles around 1330hrs local time.
Singapore Airlines began its first Airbus A380 connection to North America. The airline has launched A380 service on the daily Singapore – Tokyo – Los Angeles route, the eighth destination in the Singapore Airlines’ network with regular A380 operations.
“The introduction of the A380 to Los Angeles is another wonderful milestone in our history. We have had the privilege of serving customers on this route since 1980, and we are proud to be able to introduce our flagship aircraft to North America. We are confident that our customers will appreciate the industry-leading cabin products available on the A380,” Mr Mak Swee Wah, Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President Commercial, was quoted as saying in the company’s website.
A380 is the world’s largest passenger jetliner and the launch of the aircraft on Singapore – Tokyo – Los Angeles route spells great news for the travellers. Not only do they have the option of exploring the wonderful charm of the A380 aircraft but more number of economy seats means travellers who go for cheap tickets on flights have brighter chances of actually getting them. Travellers with cheap economy class tickets on flights will also have a comparatively higher sense of comfort travelling with Singapore Airlines’ A380 as the aircraft has newly designed seat features.
Singapore Airlines’ all A380 travel routes have turned out to be runway successes for the company as all of these flight routes have witnessed huge passenger traffic. It is reported that more than 5 million individuals have flown with the airline’s A380s since the carrier began its superjumbo operations in 2007.
